Coupling

I just found out that my all time favorite TV show Coupling is being remade in the US by NBC. The original is from UK and one might wonder why they just cannot air the original instead of remaking it. NBC has so far released a 4.28 min. “trailer” and all the characters are almost identical and so is the typical bar where they always hang out. It looked very good though, but still it isn’t the original. It never is, is it?

Jackass the Movie

I just saw Jackass the Movie and these guys are really crazy. It is really amazing what these guys are prepared to go through. E.g. getting shot with a beanbag from a real shotgun, electrifying their balls, golf car stock racing, and much much more. If you enjoy people getting hurt then see this movie.

Finis Origine Pendet

Finis Origine Pendet, loosely translated means “The end depends upon the beginning.” The quotation is taken out of context from the Astronomica of Manilius. This is the great academic motto of the Phillips Exeter Academy (real) as well as the St. Benedict’s Academy for Boys (Hollywood fiction) in the movie The Emperor’s Club. It is a great story about a teachers that strongly believes in good and right and put his strongest hopes onto a young son of a senator whom unfortunately disappoints his teacher by cheating. Being a university teacher myself, I feel strong sympathies for the situation presented in the movie and it really go to me. 10 stars to the movie The Emperor’s Club.

Movie tip: Catch me if you can?

Earlier this week I saw the movie Catch me if you can. Highly recommended. I gave it a 9/10 on IMDB.
From IMDB:
“An FBI agent tracks down and catches a young con artist who successfully impersonated an airline pilot, doctor, assistant attorney general and history professor, cashing more than $2.5 million in fraudulent checks in 26 countries.”
